Polex Studio operates Tanqueo, a website and iOS and Android app about fuel availability in Bolivia. It is responsible for the data use described here. Contact: hello@polex.studio.
You can browse stations without signing up. The app creates an anonymous account with an identifier and session records, without asking for your name, email or phone number. We link your reports, alerts and notifications to that account and keep counters to limit abuse.
Location is optional: you can choose a city. With your permission, we use your position on your device to calculate distances and show your area. Station queries receive only an approximate 1 km cell. When you submit a report, we do send your exact latitude and longitude to the server to check that you are within 300 m of the station; the report stores the distance rounded to metres, not those coordinates.
Your reports store the station, fuel, whether it is selling, any queue-length band you select, distance, time and account link. We use them to update public estimates without showing your identifier. The "I’m in line" feature does not yet record sessions or routes.
If you enable alerts, we store the fuel, alert type, enabled status and selected station or area. For an area, we store the cell, its approximate centre coordinates and radius. With notification permission, we store your push token and language, along with notification content, times and delivery status. We use Expo and Apple or Google services to deliver them.
The app saves your language, fuel, selected city or location, onboarding and notification registration status, and recent results for offline use on your phone. If you choose GPS location, exact coordinates are saved in these local preferences. Session credentials use the system’s secure storage. On the website, your position stays in memory only, and the tq_locale cookie remembers your language for one year; you can delete it in your browser.
The app uses system location services to find your area’s name and Apple Maps on iOS and OpenFreeMap/OpenStreetMap maps on Android and the web to display it. These services may process your location under their own policies. Tanqueo does not request background location. You can revoke location and notification permissions in your device settings.
We do not show ads, sell your data or track you across other companies’ apps or websites. Technical providers, such as Convex for the backend, Expo for notifications and Vercel for website hosting, process data to provide the service. On the website, Vercel Web Analytics counts visits and page views in aggregate, without cookies and without identifying you across sites. Servers may keep request and error logs, such as IP address, time and requested resource, for operation and security.
Crash diagnostics (Sentry): we collect technical errors from the website, app and backend, along with the version, device, screens and technical context to fix failures. We configure Sentry to remove IP addresses from new events. Browser and mobile JavaScript errors include a session identifier and a link to the PostHog recording.
Product analytics and session recordings (PostHog, EU region): we configure the website and app to record every session, without masking interface text, fields or images. Recordings show screens, taps, clicks, scrolling and what is displayed or entered in Tanqueo, including the area or location when visible on the map. We use a random browser or installation identifier, without asking for your name, email or phone number, to understand journeys, find friction and improve the product. We do not add exact coordinates or notification tokens to analytics events, and configure PostHog to discard IP addresses. The website uses PostHog local storage and cookies; the app stores its identifier on the device. New recordings are retained for 30 days. We do not record other apps or the contents of map applications you open from Tanqueo.
We keep data as long as needed for the service. The public-source data archive has a 30-day retention period; daily cleanup removes older files. That period does not apply to your reports or account.
You can request access, correction or deletion of your data, or object to its use, by emailing hello@polex.studio. You will also be able to use "Delete my data" ("Borrar mis datos") in the app when that option is available. Account deletion keeps reports without their account link. To handle an email request, we may need information that identifies your anonymous account.
Bolivia’s Constitución Política del Estado recognises privacy in Article 21 and provides the Acción de Protección de Privacidad (habeas data) in Article 130, subject to its conditions. This policy does not limit those rights.
Tanqueo is not directed at children or teenagers and does not seek to collect their data. If you believe a minor has provided us with data, email us to request deletion. If we change this policy, we will publish the new version here and announce significant changes on the website or in the app.
